SUMIDA CORPORATION announced today that it has received local government approval to set up a new factory in Changde, Hunan in China. To meet increasing customer demand, Sumida has fast-tracked the project and the factory will start operations from May 1, 2010.
Sumida embarked on its Silk Road strategy in 2008 and under its recently announced Mid-Term Business Plan 2010-2012, will continue with this strategy to build a global cost-effective manufacturing and logistics network, responsive to customer needs on a global and regional basis. The new factory will maintain a close link with Sumida's existing manufacturing center of expertise and excellence in Panyu, south China and is a significant milestone in Sumida's Silk Road Strategy.
