It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing away of Mr. Ichiro Yawata, founder and current honorary chairman of Sumida Group. Mr. Ichiro Yawata was born on March 12, 1924 and passed away on July 2, 2009, at age 85.
Funeral services for family members have already been held. Farewell ceremony will be scheduled at a later date and will be announced in due course.
Biography:
Year 1956 Sumida Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was incorporated
Mr. Yawata became its representative director and president
Year 1963 The company was renamed Sumida Electric Co., Ltd.
Year 1992 Mr. Yawata became its representative director and chairman
Year 2000 The company was renamed SUMIDA CORPORATION
Year 2003 Mr. Yawata became the honorary chairman of Sumida Group
