A collaborative research and development project of Sumida Electric Co., Ltd. with Kyoto
University and the National Institute for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology
was adopted for the A-STEP competitive funding program (Adaptable and Seamless
Technology Transfer Program through Target-driven R&D) offered by JST (Japan Science
and Technology Agency).
A-STEP supports industry-academia collaborative R&D across a wide range of phases to
develop commercial applications of research output generated by basic research. Several
types of funding are provided under this program, depending on the characteristics of each
R&D phase.
Under this program, Sumida Electric Co., Ltd. will begin applied research on quantum
magnetic sensing technology from October 1, 2023, and will promote development toward
practical application.
